Our students don’t practice entrepreneurship on hypothetical case studies. They partner with Cleveland organizations to create measurable results and real impact, while building a portfolio that stands out in every job interview.
Students in our Social Entrepreneurship course have been working with the Pantry On The Heights crew to help them build a playbook to scale their operations. The pantry provides a welcoming place of care, dignity, and connection to Cleveland Heights working-class families who need a helping hand.
“This course has helped me develop my entrepreneurship skills in a real world context. It’s the first class I’ve taken here where we’ve collaborated with an actual client and had the opportunity to create a meaningful impact within our local community. It has furthered my passion for service and shown me how entrepreneurship can be a powerful tool in addressing and reducing poverty!” — Olivia Donnelly, JCU Student
Students in a few of our classes, as well as through our LaunchNET program, are working with Food Strong to cultivate food justice in Northeast Ohio and beyond by building enduring local food systems from the ground up.
Specifically, students have been helping with the Superior Farm Fixup project, turning a three-acre property at Superior and 67th into an urban farm, volunteer housing, and community hub offering vocational and entrepreneurial training, wellness services, and space for cultural and recreational events.
Students will soon embark on helping the Food Strong crew develop a mobile food pantry as a partner in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration grant.
